The Things About Never Let Me Go

As a child, Kathy-now thirty-one years old-lived at Hailsham, a private school in the scenic English countryside where the children were sheltered from the outside world, brought up to believe that they were special and that their well-being was crucial not only for themselves but for the society they would eventually enter. Kathy had long ago put this idyllic past behind her, but when two of her Hailsham friends come back into her life, she stops resisting the pull of memory.

And so, as her friendship with Ruth is rekindled, and as the feelings that long ago fueled her adolescent crush on Tommy begin to deepen into love, Kathy recalls their years at Hailsham. She describes happy scenes of boys and girls growing up together, unperturbed-even comforted-by their isolation. But she describes other scenes as well: of discord and misunderstanding that hint at a dark secret behind Hailsham’s nurturing facade. With the dawning clarity of hindsight, the three friends are compelled to face the truth about their childhood-and about their lives now.

Review – All The Bright Places

Title : All The Bright Places
Author : Jennifer Niven
Publisher : Alfred A. Knopf
Published : January 2015
Page : 388 pages
My Rating : 3.5/5

Theodore Finch is fascinated by death, and he constantly thinks of ways he might kill himself. But each time, something good, no matter how small, stops him.

Violet Markey lives for the future, counting the days until graduation, when she can escape her Indiana town and her aching grief in the wake of her sister’s recent death.

When Finch and Violet meet on the ledge of the bell tower at school, it’s unclear who saves whom. And when they pair up on a project to discover the “natural wonders” of their state, both Finch and Violet make more important discoveries: It’s only with Violet that Finch can be himself—a weird, funny, live-out-loud guy who’s not such a freak after all. And it’s only with Finch that Violet can forget to count away the days and start living them. But as Violet’s world grows, Finch’s begins to shrink.

This is a heart-wrenching, unflinching story of love shared, life lived, and two teens who find one another while standing on the edge.

March 2015 Recaps

Jpeg

Hi guys! How’ve been you doing?

This is my March recaps, and it’ll be rather photo-heavy post, lol.

In the beginning of March, I posted rather frequently through the middle but after that I’ve been so busy with school and various things related to it. So I stopped updating blog regularly. The truth is, I didn’t read book so much during that period. Something made me bored to the point books didn’t appeal to me. Anyway, I read total 6 books (gasp*so few), listed below :

1) Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier (reviewed)

2) The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling (reviewed)

3) Falling into Place by Amy Zhang (reviewed)

4) Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake (reviewed)

5) The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michele Hodkin (reviewed)

6) To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before (pending for blog tour)

Wishful Wednesday [1]

Jadi setelah beberapa saat berpetualang di belantara Blog Buku Indonesia (maklum member baru jadi-jadian (?)), saya nemu induk dari meme yang sudah tersebar dimana-mana ini. Namanya Wishful Wednesday, induknya dari blog Books to Share -nya Kak Astrid ternyata #elah siapa elu sih Ra, sok kenal –;

All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

Nah, karena beberapa saat lalu saya nge-twit “I really want to read All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven!”, hasilnya apa sodara-sodara? Penulisnya malah follow twitter saya! *facepalm*

The Fault in Our Stars meets Eleanor and Park in this exhilarating and heart-wrenching love story about a girl who learns to live from a boy who intends to die.

Soon to be a major motion picture starring Elle Fanning!

This is an intense, gripping novel perfect for fans of Jay Asher, Rainbow Rowell, John Green, Gayle Forman, and Jenny Downham from a talented new voice in YA, Jennifer Niven.

Includes a PDF Help Line Resource Guide and a Note Read by the Author.

Pas kemarin saya ngecek di Books & Beyond, statusnya ternyata out of stock. Syedih ;;
